Rare earth land intelligence

Know which ground is worth claiming.

Five federal datasets joined to every parcel, then scored on five weighted pillars. Rank a district before a competitor finishes reading the county file.

Scroll — the map follows
01

228,985 deposits, one index.

Every recorded resource site in the USGS MRDS set, joined to the same parcel geometry at CRS 4326. Rare earth first, because that is the thesis — 1,016 of those records are REE-bearing, and 893 of them sit inside the lower 48.

Figures read from the production database on 24 Aug 2026. The map shows 106 markers — our two live parcel counties plus REE occurrences thinned on a grid so they spread rather than pile up.

02
Pillar 1 of 5 · weight 35%

Mineral carries the heaviest weight.

Deposit proximity on a 50 km exponential decay, deposit density log-normalised, plus a bonus for REE-bearing records within range. Nothing downstream rescues bad ground, so this pillar is worth more than any two others combined.

03
Pillar 2 of 5 · weight 20%

A railhead decides what counts as a deposit.

Census TIGER roads and rail, measured as haulage distance rather than drawn as decoration — road on a 10 km decay weighted 0.6, rail on 50 km weighted 0.4. For bulk concentrate the distance to a loadout is often the whole margin.

Layers: Roads (Census TIGER) · Rail Lines (Census TIGER) — national, live.

04
Pillar 3 of 5 · weight 15%

The pillar we will not pretend is live.

Build measures flood exposure across the buildable footprint. The scoring code is written and the weight is reserved, but FEMA flood zones have zero rows in production today — so the pillar returns its neutral value on every parcel and contributes nothing. We would rather show you the gap than smooth it.

It is on the map's legend as not loaded, it is marked that way in the score panel, and it will change the day the ingest lands.

Layer: FEMA Flood Zones — defined, not yet loaded.

05
Pillar 4 of 5 · weight 15%

Water, down to the block.

Strategic scores distance to NHD hydrology on a 25 km decay over a base allowance. Separation and refining are water problems before they are anything else, and the answer changes parcel by parcel — which is why it is measured onto real assessor geometry, not a district outline.

1,156,914 parcel records are in production today, carrying ownership, acreage and activity class normalised to one schema.

Layers: NHD Hydrology (national, live) · Parcels (county assessors, county by county).

06
Pillar 5 of 5 · weight 15%

Separation is grid-bound.

EIA high-voltage transmission and substation locations on a 25 km decay. Mining ore is one problem; separating and refining it is a power problem, and a site forty miles from adequate capacity is a site with a substation on its critical path.

Layer: EIA Power Transmission — national, live.

One number. Five arguments.

The composite is the easy part. What makes it defensible is that every contribution stays visible, so a committee argues with the parts instead of the total — and the layer pillars and the score pillars are the same five, so nothing is scored on data that isn’t on the map.

Four of the five are live on national data. The fifth is labelled everywhere it appears. Weights are configurable per mandate — a lithium brine thesis and a carbonatite thesis do not score the same ground the same way.

08

National layers. Parcels county by county.

The federal layers are national from day one. Parcel records are ingested one county at a time and promoted only after every metric passes, so what you query is verified rather than merely loaded.

Verified

Orange (492,317) and Palm Beach (664,597) counties, Florida — all ingest metrics passed.

In progress

Broward loaded but unverified. Priority western counties follow.

National, live

Mineral deposits, power transmission, roads, rail and hydrology across the full country.

Not yet loaded

FEMA flood zones and USDA soil. Named here because the Build pillar is reserved for them.

Send us the district you can’t get comfortable with.

Name a claim block, a county, or a mineral class. We come back with the full stack on that ground and the score, with the weights shown.
